Can you machine wash a CamelBak?
Your pack can go just about anywhere you go—but NOT in the washing machine. Machine-washing your pack can twist or tear the straps and fixtures, and wear away the fabric’s weatherproof coating. If you decide to go rogue and throw your pack in the wash anyway, just be aware that it voids the Got Your Bak™ warranty.
How do you clean a water bladder?
Fill with warm water and half a teaspoon of bleach and two tablespoons of baking soda. Shake, close, then let sit for 30 minutes or so. Dump out the cleaning solution, rinse well, flush the hose, prop the reservoir open and hang it to dry.

How often should you clean a CamelBak?
- Take time to rinse and thoroughly dry the entire system every time you use it.
- Every couple of weeks, particularly if you are giving your system a lot of use, it’s a good idea to put a cleaning tablet into your reservoir, leave the solution in for five minutes, drain, rinse and let dry.
How do you dry out a Camelbak?
Stuff the bladder with a clean cotton wash cloth of small towel and insert the horizontal length of the plastic hanger through the cap opening. Hang the whole thing up for a day or two to let it air out slowly. Once dry remove the towel and store your bladder away as normal with the lid/cap unscrewed.
How do I clean my Camelbak valve?
- Pull off the bite valve and straw from the cap.
- Clean it in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water.
- If you like to use a bottle brush, we don’t recommend forcing it through the bite valve slit as it can tear the silicone.
Can you put ice in a hydration bladder?
The hydration pack keeps the contents of the water bladder cold for quite a while, especially when you put ice in it. You can also freeze the bladder when it is half full, take it out the following day, top it off with water and the ice chunk will melt even more slowly than ice cubes throughout the day.

Simply hold the full bladder up high then squeeze the mouth piece with your fingers to get water to run through the hose. Dry: It is important to completely dry out the hydration bladder. Hang it up with the cap open until it completely dries out.

Our Tritan (i.e., plastic) Chute, eddy and Podium bottles are safe to freeze—just make sure you only fill them ¾ full so there’s room for the water to expand. We don’t recommend freezing the stainless steel, glass or Groove bottles, though you can certainly fill them with ice cubes if you like your water extra cold.
How do you get the plastic taste out of a CamelBak?
To get rid of the taste, we recommend filling 3/4 the way of warm water and a tablespoon of baking soda, and letting the contents sit for approximately 40 minutes to one hour. Once you rinse it out, your bottle should be taste-free and good to go.
